Read the Bible for 500th Anniversary of Reformation
October 31, 2017, marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. A key element of this move of God’s Spirit among His people was the return to God‘s Word as the source of Truth, pointing to Jesus our Savior. To commemorate this anniversary, members of Atlantic District churches will be encouraged to read through the entire Bible in two years, beginning on October 31, 2016 and culminating two years later on October 31, 2018. Initiated by Task Force Two of the District, this devotional Bible reading program is called RB 500th, Read the Bible for the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.
The devotional guides and Bible readings are available in different formats on our District resource website Lutherantools.org. Leaders and Readers can access the guides and readings in one of three ways:
- On-line version at www.Lutherantools.org
- Print version (useful for bulletin inserts), found at www.Lutherantools.org
- Calendar subscription delivered daily to a smartphone. Convenient, quick, and now! It works with your computer or smartphone's calendar application, and places daily readings, guides and even a link to the scripture text and audio at your fingertips!
Mission Statement to the Atlantic District Convention
The Atlantic District's congregations, workers and agencies share God's grace in Christ Jesus to nurture Christians and reach out to others.
The Atlantic District is "Engaging the World with the Gospel of Hope" through:
+ vitalized congregations that grow in the grace and work of the Body of the Christ through Word and Sacraments while reaching their neighborhoods and the world with the life and love of Christ;
+ sanctified workers who are supported so that they love, teach and lead the baptized while seeking the lost and sharing the Gospel with all people; and
+ dynamic agencies that are committed to partnerships in the Gospel that edify the faithful while transforming our society.
Passed at the September 29, 2011 Board of Directors Meeting of The Atlantic District, LCMS.
